Biosketch

Aleksandra Inic-Kanada has studied Biochemistry at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. She started her career in 1996 as Research Assistant at the Immunology Research Center “Branislav Jankovic” in Belgrade where she has had an opportunity to work in basic science research related to innate immunity and autoimmunity.  She completed her master and PhD thesis in Immunology and Immunochemistry. She then continued to do science outreach as a Assistant Research Professor at the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera “Torlak” in Belgrade. She was working on different projects funded by Serbian Ministry of Science and Technology, where she gained strong experience in various fields of immunology and vaccinology.

In 2011 Aleksandra Inic-Kanada joined the group of Prof. Talin Barisani-Asenbauer in Laura Bassi Center of Excellence - OCUVAC at Medical University Vienna, which aims at achieving a multidisciplinary understanding of trachoma and ocular immunity.

Aleksandra Inic-Kanada interests include innate and acquired resistance to infection; mucosal immunity, the conjunctiva and conjunctiva-associated lymphoid tissue, pathogen immune modulation and immunomodulatory immunotherapeutics/vaccines.
